Laura Chamberlin
TFPWI Manager Laura Chamberlin, a Maryland native, spent the last couple years in California working for an environmental non-profit before returning to the East Coast to set some roots down. Prior to her time in California, Laura served in the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa and obtained a BS in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island. When not talking trash, Laura can be found making peach jam, growing okra, watching birds, or walking in the woods.

Ashlea Smith
Before being hired as Coordinator of the Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative (TFPWI) in July, 2010, Ashlea Smith, fondly known as “Trashlea” to her solid waste industry colleagues, interned with the Alice Ferguson Foundation (AFF) with a focus on developing the Trash Free Potomac Facility program. She is a recent graduate of George Mason University. In 2009, she was a Material Resource Sustainability Intern with the D.C. Department of Public Works’ Office of Recycling. While recycling is perennially on her mind, she can also be found swimming, dancing, or hiking all around the DC area. Alena Rosen
Alena joined AFF in September 2011 as the Communications Associate. She attended Scripps College where she received her bachelor's degree in American Studies and Environmental Analysis. During her time there and post graduation, she worked with a variety of non-profit organizations solidifying her commitment to land-based and ocean conservation. Prior to pursuing an undergraduate degree, Alena joined Americorps where she aided in disaster relief by rebuilding homes, distributing food and general cleanup activities in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.An avid swimmer, boater, hiker, and outdoor enthusiast, she is happiest when surrounded by water and mountains (trash free of course).
